What you need to know

Located a stone’s throw from Bank tube station is The Ned, a beautiful white façade building designed in 1924 by Sir Edwin ‘Ned’ Lutyens. Having once been the Midland Bank, it was left empty for five years before Nick Jones, the founder of Soho House & Co, was inspired by the space and partnered with Andrew Zobler, the CEO of New York's Sydell Group, to transform this disused space into one of the most amazing hotels in London. Stepping into the lobby, you can’t help but be astounded by the sheer size of the open plan space. You won’t find a typical reception desk at the entrance, instead the area is filled with restaurants, cafes and a central area where live music is played daily from 3pm. Geometric flooring and dark wood panels adorn the interior, as well as 92 original Verdite columns. When it comes to the event spaces, they have six in total, the largest being The Tapestry Room which is beautifully traditional. It features original walnut panelling and a large tapestry that wraps the upper wall – an opulent setting for a dinner up to 120 guests. Other spaces include The Saloon (120 standing), The Drawing Room (for 80 standing), The RWB (50 standing), as well as two smaller spaces for meetings. The wonderful thing about all of these spaces is the history each one encapsulates –they have ensured that original features remain intact to ensure holding an event here is like experiencing a snippet of the past.

As well as a 252-bedroom hotel, The Ned is also a private members’ club and whilst the glamorous roof terrace (with a pool we might add!) is off limits unless you’re a member or a hotel guest, there is a small area that can be hired for events – one of their beautiful domes. Accommodating up to 50 standing, the dome is perfect for exclusive drinks receptions and comes with a small outside terrace where barbecues can be held. The NED provides so many other wonderful elements too, from their nine restaurants, spa, swimming pool, Cheeky nail bar to their barber shop, we recommend taking the time to explore everything on offer.
